EOC Tour conquers Mount Baldo

In the new stage of the EOC Tour, orienteers left the shores of Lake Garda to observe it this time from above. Thanks to the two-seater Prada (m. 1,000 asl) – Ortigaretta (m. 1,550 asl) basket ropeway of the Malcesine – Monte Baldo Cableway, between the municipalities of San Zeno di Montagna and Benzone sul Garda, the participants tested their qualities on wild, off-road terrain, completely different from that of the past days.

The Monte Baldo mountain range, between the Adige Valley and Lake Garda, is one of the most scenic spots to enjoy the lake from above and venture among many trails, including bicycle paths. Mount Baldo is famous for the variety of its flora, so much so that it is called “Hortus Europae” (Garden of Europe), with native species of flowers.

Continuing with the chairlift, you can reach Cima Costabella for breathtaking views even of the mountains of the Alps and the Po Valley, embracing it in all its extension to the Apennines. Numerous treks then depart from the chairlift’s arrival station, leading to mountain huts and refuges among chamois and marmots.

The Swedish National Team also participated in the stage, which was attended by Maurizio Castellani, mayor of San Zeno di Montagna, and Piergiorgio Schena, director of the Prada – Costabella Cable Car, whose facilities are being completely renovated and put into operation in August 2022.
